Steam Deckis nearing its late February release date for early reservation holders, but some developers and members of the media already have access to the device. In fact, someone has already published footage ofCyberpunk 2077running on Valve’s handheld gaming PC.

Equipped with an RDNA2 onboard graphics processor, theSteam Deckis likely to be the single most powerful handheld PC (GPU-wise) once it’s finally released. SinceCyberpunk 2077is as hardware-intensive as it is, however, many people may have expected the device to struggle running the game at any settings, even though it was part of some of Steam Deck’s promotional showcases.

As the video in question shows, though, Steam Deck should be more than capable of runningCyberpunk 2077at a playable frame rate. It’s hard to tell due to the quality of the video, but the game seems to be rendered at 30-ish FPS, and it could very well be using AMD’s upscaling software to improve performance, asSteam Deck will support FSR upscalingaccording to sources.

Even though thelist of Steam Deck Verified gamesseems to be growing every day,Cyberpunk 2077isn’t currently on it. The nitty-gritty of how the game performs and at what settings will be interesting to delve into, but simply knowing that the device can handle this particular title just fine should help with performance concerns to some extent.

In practical terms, Valve’s Steam Deck really is just a handheld PC that runs SteamOS 3.0, so it shouldn’t be too big of a surprise to see almost any game run on it. In fact, various developers have already mentioned thatSteam Deck is a delight to work with, as games run just fine with the minimal extra effort invested in doing so. Presumably,Cyberpunk 2077hasn’t received any special Steam Deck optimizations at this time.

Keeping all the above in mind, it’s also plainly obvious that the video in question is of pretty shoddy quality and with a low bit rate. This means that the game could very well be running on its lowest settings and at a significantly reduced resolution, which would make this at least a bit less impressive than it otherwise is. There’s also no word onSteam Deck’s battery life, whichCyberpunk 2077would presumably drain really quickly. Thankfully, the end of February isn’t too far ahead.

Steam Deckis going to start being shipped to first reservation holders on February 25th.
