As many Marvel fans likely know, Disney is doubling and tripling down on their Disney Plus MCU content. Between the already releasedWandaVisionandThe Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Marvel has dominated the television discourse cycle for a few months now, and considering the upcomingLoki,Hawkeye,She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and even more, they will likely be keeping the Marvel brand in the news for months if not years to come, but one particular project hasStar Warsicon Mark Hamill concerned.

Part of that push hasbeen 2 newGuardians of the Galaxyshows as well. Though the projects aren’t going to be complete shows likeWandaVision, the company has announced a series of shorts titledI Am Groot, set to make use of the Guardians' most beloved hero in various lighthearted adventures. The other project seems to be a much more substantial venture, however, titledThe Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Specialand will feature the cast of the films, and will be directed by James Gunn.

Some lifetime lovers of geek media may have shivered slightly at that name, and if so, they’re not alone. When it was announced, the title immediately drew comparisons to the infamousStar Wars Holiday Special, a notoriously terrible film that was so bad, even George Lucas himself made a valiant effort to wipe it from the history books. Plus, almost every actor involved has disavowed or distanced themselves from the project in one way or another.

So when Gunnposted a picture of theGuardiansspecial’s scripton Twitter, Hamill himself decided to have a little fun at the expense of the project, Tweeting out, “I have a very bad feeling about this…,” poking fun at his own experience with such projects. Then Gunn responded and the two went back and forth, joking around about the title and its similarity to theStar Warsproject.

Gunn responded to the first Tweet, remarking that “These things ALWAYS go well,” with Hamill responding “I hope you don’t find my lack of faith… disturbing.” Then theGuardiansdirector cut right to the chase with “So strange you’ve got a holiday special phobia is all. I wouldn’t have a clue as to why.” The back and forth garnered a lot of attention on Twitter, both from fans lookingforward to theGuardians of the Galaxyspecialand those who appreciate some ribbing of the oldStar Wars Holiday Special.

It seems to have all been in good fun, with Hamill responding with a simple laughter emoji to Gunn’s last Tweet, and the internet had yet another good-natured chuckle over the disastrousStar Warsproject. Hopefully, Gunn’s version of a holiday special will end up being a lot higher quality, and a lot more fondly remembered.
