Summary

Hogwarts Legacy 2has a lot of expectations to live up to, and the bar only raises with time. There are a lot of things that its predecessor did really well, but there are some that left fans wanting more. One among these is the missed opportunity of letting players run their own Hogsmeade shop inHogwarts Legacy. This was one aspect that made the experience quite bitter for many, especially since it was released exclusively for the PS5 and was believed to be an immersive experience.

The developers had also claimed that the Hogsmeade shop quest would make its way to Xbox and PC platforms a year after release. However, that has yet to come to pass. The reception that it garnered was positive only for the mission; the business-running aspect was sorely lacking. As such, it becomes important thatHogwarts Legacy 2allows players to run their own Hogsmeade shop anyway they like.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Can Only Benefit From a Detailed Hogsmeade Shop-Running System

How Hogswarts Legacy’s PS5-Exclusive Hogsmeade Shop Fumbled the Ball

Hogwarts Legacy 2should improve the business aspect from the first game’sPS5-exclusive Hogsmeade shop quest. Essentially, house-elf Penny’s dialogue chain leads fans to believe that they can sell anything at the store. However, they can only sell clothing, and for just 10% more profit. The limitations extend further - they cannot customize the shop, speak with any customers, or even have any further-reaching business-related experiences. These are precisely the aspects that need to be fixed.

Hogwarts Legacycould have done a lot to flesh out the business aspect. By the time players reach the Hogsmeade shop side quest, many generally have an efficient system in place tobrew the best potions inHogwarts Legacy, grow plants, and even breed animals. Allowing players to sell all these items at their own business would make it a one-stop-shop for all residents, and generate better returns as time went on. Alas, these aspects of theHogwarts Legacy’splayer-owned Hogsmeade shop were overlooked.

Hogwarts Legacy 2’s Hogsmeade Shop Should be More Hands-on

Hogsmeade has a great reputation in theHarry Potteruniversethanks to the special place it holds in Hogwarts students' lives. The presence of a fleshed-out town with The Three Broomsticks, Hog’s Head, Honeydukes, Zonko’s Joke Shop, and more add a really immersive experience. They have interactive interiors and the art design is stellar, and there are even more elements to build on.

With this in mind, players should be able to decorate their Hogsmeade shop inHogwarts Legacyany way they want; going on side quests to collect specialty items as furniture or products should help increase respect/revenue level. With time, there should be additional benefits if they acquire more and more difficult-to-find items, like a vial of dragon blood, Thunderbird feathers, and even Acromantula venom. IfHogwarts Legacy 2brings in the Chamber of Secrets, which seems entirely possible, then Basilisk venom may be a a precious resource too.

Aside from these, it would be splendid if players can pick other things to sell. These could be joke items to compete with Zonko’s, sweets to take on Honeydukes, innovative items to go up against Dervish and Banges, or even old books and scripts to give Tomes and Scrolls a run for its money. They should be able to run fun minigames as well in their Hogsmeade shop inHogwarts Legacy 2; these would draw in more students and earn extra cash, and even give someone really skilled or lucky a good discount. Systems like this would certainly bring in more crowds, and thus, immersion and monetary benefits as well.
